Evan had a wonderful weekend at his first race of the year. We ALL did! It was the first round of the KAYO Mini-GP USA Championship & Norcal Moto Challenge at the Little 99 Kart & Moto Track. We weren’t sure what to expect as most of the kids had little or no practice on the KAYO bikes up until the weekend. Evan also wanted to ride his KX65 so this was the first time he would ever be switching between two different bikes with two different shift styles. He did a phenomenal job learning GP shift and switching back and forth. He placed 2nd in the 65GP race, 3rd in the KAYO MiniGP and 3rd in the 125 4-Stroke race.
What truly made the weekend magical was Michael Yamaguchi and the whole MotoCrew USA team. Michael went above and beyond to make his riders, Ryder Yamaguchi, Argee “The Padawan” Cardenas and Evan, feel like pros. The pits were so professional with beautiful laser cut signs above their canopies. Michael was hard at work all weekend and would not listen when we told him to take a break. If he wasn’t wrenching on a bike he was polishing one. Jim and Nickie Williams of Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning also took care of the kids all weekend, watching their riding styles and tuning the bikes accordingly. Thank you Jim and Nickie!
