The Little 99 Kart Track in Stockton is putting on some combined Kart / Moto race events this year, which will give Evan a place to race! The season opener was a doosey for Evan. He got to come out on Friday before the race to get some practice in, and the morning went great, but the bike started dying part way through the sessions in the afternoon. Miles took the head off to take a look and cleaned the carburetor that evening, hoping for the best.
Unfortunately, things weren’t any better in the morning and Evan could only get a few laps of practice in before the bike dyed. Miles was trying frantically to troubleshoot and get the bike fixed, but things were only getting worse. Evan did everything he could during his heat races to keep the bike running, blipping the throttle mid corner just to keep the revs up, but to no avail. Evan DNFed both of his heats and was gridded at the back of the pack. Just before Evan’s main, it was discovered that the whole problem was from a blocked fuel line. Miles cleared it and got the bike back together just in the nick of time, bolting Evan’s bodywork on as he sat in the hot pits.
Evan charged from the back of the grid, picking his competitors off one by one. By the time the race was half over, Evan was in the lead and creating a gap. He took the checkered flag after one of the most trying race weekends of his life!
