Evan had fond memories of Grange and was really looking forward to going back. They were running it the opposite direction from the previous year, so Evan was concentrating on getting his lines down during practice. He was having a little trouble with the short-track bypass and ran off twice there during the first day, but had it down by the end of the day Saturday.

In his first race, Evan had a great start and got out ahead of the pack. Errol (#39) was all over Evan’s back tire and they began to break away from the rest of the field. Errol would show Evan a wheel in almost every other corner, but Evan kept his lines tight and didn’t let Errol through. After fighting Errol off for the entire race, Evan crossed the finish line barely a bike length in front of Errol for the win.

Evan’s start in race 2 wasn’t quite as good as his first. This time Errol and Emi (#16) got out in front of him early on. Evan’s gearing was a little low, which had worked out great for him in the first race, but was now a liability because Errol and Emi were pulling away in the faster parts of the track. Evan held his position and picked up a third place in race 2. All in all, a successful weekend!
